2009: U.S. Forest Service Wings Across the Americas’ Research and Partnership Award, for significant contributions to understanding the status and trend of the Northern Spotted Owl across its range.

2006: The National Science Foundation’s Antarctic Service Medal of the United States of America, in recognition of valuable contributions to the U.S. Antarctic Program.
